I’d like to share some insights on the benefits of retreats this month. My intuition has been calling me forth daily to write about it and assist others in this practice. Moon Lodge represents Retreat. In Indian tradition, “Moontime is the sacred time of woman when she is honored as a Mother of the Creative Force.” It is a time of recognition for her abundance and fertility. Her retreat time allowed for the release of old energy and became a preparation for reconnection to the Earth Mother’s fertility for the next month cycle. This tradition assured fertility and abundance for the Tribe or Nation. Denying a woman of this time might inflict the wrath of Mother Earth. This ritual began so that women could nurture themselves and thereby fulfill their responsibilities of nurturing others during the remainder of the month. Through many years, women have learned to love, understand, value, appreciate and heal each other through the beauty of retreat and receiving. Men and women can benefit from the historic symbol of Retreat. When we can learn to process and appreciate our life experiences and the feelings created around those experiences, we can begin to experience our own sense of true healing. This is proactive medicine. This is assisting our body temple in being the best that it can be for us and all those we touch. How can you bring Moon Lodge into your life and withdraw or take a break? What if you took some time this week to reconnect with that which brings you joy? Can you treat (and then re-treat) yourself in a gentle way and allow for renewal? This is not a time of weakness; it is a time of strength. Reposition yourself. Honor your Self! Go to a place of solitude and reenergize your soul. You just might enjoy the company you keep in your quiet moments. Let your spirit feel free!
